Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah (PBM) untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Mahasiswa pada Matakuliah Fisiologi Tumbuhan

Abstract


This study officially intends to describe the teaching activity of lecturer, learning activity of students, and increasing the output of study by employing problem based-learning model (PBM) in the subject of Plant Physiology. This research also categorized as classroom action-research (PTK), which is conducted within two cycles. Each cycle consists of four phases namely; planning, action, observation, and reflection. In particular, this study used descriptive method, where the subject employed in this study is the lecturer of Plant Physiology and 36 students who study in the fourth semester. The research instruments used are observation sheet of lecturer and students’ in order to identify the activity and learning process of students. Further, the data collected from the observation then has to be analyzed by utilizing mean score along with the observation results of students. The observation was based on the completeness of students’ activities. The results of lecturer observation in the first cycle show that lecturer’s mean score was in the good category (28.5), in which the result of students’ observation reflects the similar category (good: 29). Meanwhile, the outputs in the second cycle display that lecturer has performed good criteria (31.5) and the same tendency can be found on the students’ result (good: 31). In form of percentage, the completeness of classical learning method in the first cycle was 73%, where it was categorized as incomplete. However, in the second cycle, this number increased from 73% up to 80% and categorized as complete. According to the results, it can be concluded that the implementation of problem based-learning model could increase either lecturer and students’ activities or learning outputs in the subject of Plant Physiology.
