Abstract


The problem of this research lies in the students thinking process in a lecture activity. This study aims to determine the optimization of microscopic representation and scientific reasoning of prospective teachers through constructivist sequences assisted by simsketch application in Cell Biology lectures in the Biology Education Study Program of the University of Muhammadiyah Bengkulu. This type of research is Research Mixed Methods (a mixture of qualitative and quantitative methods) with embedded experimental research designs. Data collection is done through interviews, observation and documentation, and tests. The results showed that in general it was seen that the ability of students' microscopic representation on each indicator had increased from pretest to posttest, this was seen in the accuracy of the drawing which had increased by as many as 11 people who scored high and on the description of images as many as 8 people. The ability of students' scientific reasoning is seen to have increased considerably in each type of reasoning, namely in concrete operations of 4 people, transitional 7 people and formal operations of 4 people. From the results of the study it can be concluded that through constructivist sequences assisted with simsketch application in Cell Biology lectures can optimize microscopic representation and scientific reasoning and obtain a map of good teacher candidates' mindset
