DIAGNOSIS KESALAHAN MAHASISWA DALAM MENYELESAIKAN SOAL PERHITUNGAN PELUANG PADA MATAKULIAH STATISTIKA MATEMATIKA

Abstract


This study aim to determine the types of error and the factors causing the  student error in solving the probability calculation probles, which include calculating the opportunity based on numerical technique, conditional opportuniy and dalil of Bayes. This research was a descriptive research. The sample in this study were the students of mathematic education JPMIPA FKIP University of Bengkulu 2016/2017 academic year totaling 35 people and had taken mathematic statistic course. The research instrument include test sheet and interview. The results showed that the student’s error in solving probability calculation question included: 1) False facts: as many as 18.5% of students made mistakes in using the data specified in the problem and 27.12% of students mistakenly used the data obtained from the process calculation, 2) Misconception: 14.2% of students wrongly applied the concept of numerical engineering (permutation and combination), 52.6% of students mistakenly used the concept of Bayes' dalil and 38.9% of students were wrong in solving the problems related to conditional opportunity, 3) Error operation: 28.5% of students made a mistake in the calculation process and 7.18% of students were wrong in the step to complete the calculation operation, 4) Error Principle: 62.8% of students misunderstood the nature and theorem related to the dalil Bayes. The factors that cause the students to do these types of mistakes were: the students were less thorough and rushed in working on question and the students did not understand the concept that related to numeracy technique (permutation and combination, conditional opportunity and the dalil Bayes).
