Abstract

The use of proper planting media can produce good quality seedling. The purpose of this study was to evaluate effect of different media with the composition of oil palm fruit fiber and cow manure on the growth of ketapang kencana seedling (Terminalia mantaly). Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatmens and replictions was used in the study. The treatments were 100% palm fruit fiber waste (P1), 100% cow manure (P2), 75% palm fruit fiber waste + 25% cow manure (P3), 50% oil palm fruit fiber waste + 50% cow manure ( P4), oil palm fruit fiber waste 25% + cow manure 75% (P5). Data were analyzed by analysis of variance test and BNT follow-up test. The results showed that the cow manure resulted in the highest value of seedling height, diameter and leaf number. The treatmens of planting media between oil palm fruit fiber waste (75,50 and 50%) and cow manure (25, 50 and 75%) did not significant effect on seedling height, diameter and leaf number. All treatment did not significantly affect on the sturdiness of the seedling.
