These varied interests cause significant problems regarding rights and access to utilizing resources among those actors. The military utilizes land for training purposes. On the other hand, farmers cultivate the land for agriculture. This article scrutinized how farmers’ involvement in agrarian conflicts allows them to experience conditions of uncertainty in their efforts to survive, especially when the level of conflict increases. Farmer households must be able to adapt and implement survival strategies with the livelihood assets/capital (natural physical, capital, human, and financial capital, and social capital) they have. This study aims to analyze the correlation between the level of agrarian conflict and farmer households’ strategy and livelihood assets. This study applied a quantitative method supported by a qualitative method. Quantitative data were obtained using a research questionnaire and processed using Spearman’s rank, while qualitative data were collected by conducting interviews. The results of the study show that the level of agrarian conflict significantly correlates with the livelihood assets and strategies of farmer households. The uncertainty experienced by farming households is regarding the agricultural activities they carry out when the intensity of the conflict increases or when the Indonesian Army (Tentara Angkatan Darat) training activities take place.
Indri Marizka Heru Purwandari Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2025-07-01 2025-07-01 11 1 1 23 10.33369/jsn.11.1.1-23 Contributions/Roles of Millennial and Gen Z in Utilising Digital Technology https://ejournal.unib.ac.id/jsn/article/view/41696
The millennial generation and generation Z play a strategic role in the era of modernization influenced by technological advances and globalization. Interestingly, many siri wives do not necessarily perceive their position negatively. On the contrary, they are able to construct positive meanings through their experiences and social interactions. This study aims to identify the meanings constructed by siri wives regarding their position in polygamous marriages, and analyze the adaptive strategies developed by siri wives. This research employs a qualitative approach with data collected through in-depth interviews. The informants consist of five second siri wives. Data analysis was conducted using the Symbolic Interactionism theory by George Herbert Mead. The findings show that siri marriages are perceived as a form of social status recognition, a source of emotional and financial security, and a symbol of the husbands commitment. The status of a siri wife is also seen as a means of gaining affection, escaping loneliness, and attaining flexibility in roles and time. Children born from siri marriages are regarded as a core part of family identity and a primary reason to remain in the marriage. Adaptive strategies include financial independence, emotional detachment from stigma, social participation, and maintaining proper appearance. It is concluded that siri wives construct the meaning of their status not merely based on legal recognition or societal judgment, but through social interaction, self-awareness, and creative negotiation of their position within the reality of polygamous marriage.
Mufidatunnisa Nisa Jendrius Indraddin Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2025-07-01 2025-07-01 11 1 38 60 10.33369/jsn.11.1.38-60 Community Social Capital Optimization Jatiwangi Art Factory As A Transformation Strategy Social Sustainability (A Case Study In Jatisura Village, Majalengka Regency) https://ejournal.unib.ac.id/jsn/article/view/40246
Social capital is a key factor in facilitating sustainable social transformation which mechanisms rely on the function of social networks, trust, and shared social norms. This study investigates the underlying reasons for the preference for private vehicles among the residents of Pontianak and examines the resulting impacts of the shift from public to private transportation. Grounded in Max Weber's Social Action Theory, the research employs a qualitative method involving 14 purposively selected informants, with data analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s Interactive Model. The findings reveal that residents favor private vehicles due to a combination of internal factors—such as flexibility, comfort, time efficiency, convenience, economic considerations, safety, and travel purposes—and external factors, including inadequate public transportation infrastructure and weather conditions. These factors reflect how individual motives, rational choices, and situational influences shape transportation behavior. The shift has led to various impacts, including traffic congestion, air and noise pollution, higher accident risks, reduced social interaction, social stratification, and increasing individualism. The study concludes that enhancing the quality, accessibility, and attractiveness of public transportation is essential to reduce overdependence on private vehicles and promote more sustainable urban mobility in Pontianak.
Dara Septika Natalia Anggraeni Arkanudin Sudirman Herlan Indah Listyaningrum Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2025-07-01 2025-07-01 11 1 84 100 10.33369/jsn.11.1.84-100 Pokdarwis (Tourism Awareness Group) Strategies in the Development of Sanjai Tourism Village, Bukittinggi City: An Analysis of Bourdieu’s Habitus and Capital https://ejournal.unib.ac.id/jsn/article/view/41953
This research explores how the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) implementing Community-Based Tourism (CBT) in Sanjai Tourism Village, Bukittinggi, West Sumatera. This study aims to examine the patterns and strategies of social intervention implemented by the Social Rehabilitation UPTD Mardi Guna Lampung. A qualitative method with a phenomenological approach was employed to explore social reality from the subjects' perspectives, utilising interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study showed that the pattern of social intervention was carried out through the identification, assessment, coaching program, resocialization, evaluation, and termination stages. The strategies employed involve a personal approach by social workers and cross-agency collaboration to support the program's success. In general, the resocialization process exhibits positive tendencies, although some beneficiaries continue to face challenges, particularly due to limited family support and unstable socioeconomic conditions. The analysis, using Max Weber's theory of social action, reveals that the interventions reflect purposeful, rational actions, rather than merely administrative routines. These findings highlight the significance of the quality of social workers’ actions and environmental support in achieving the success of social interventions for PAS.
Aditya Fajar Yudhanto Luthfi Salim Faisal Adnan Reza Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2025-07-01 2025-07-01 11 1 126 144 10.33369/jsn.11.1.126-144 Implementing Protection Principles for Women Victims of Violence: A Study of West Sumatra’s UPTD PPA https://ejournal.unib.ac.id/jsn/article/view/41744
Violence against women continues to be a significant issue that calls for decisive government action. In response, the Indonesian government established the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPA) through PPPA Regulation Number 4 of 2018. The West Sumatra Provincial Government has formed UPTD PPA to provide protection services for women victims of violence. However, challenges remain in aligning the implementation of these services with the protection principles mandated in the national legal framework. This study aims to describe how the UPTD PPA of West Sumatra Province applies the principles of protection in handling cases of violence against women. Data were gathered using a qualitative descriptive approach through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. The research informants consisted of five officers from the UPTD PPA of West Sumatra Province. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which involves data coding, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the implementation of the principles of non-discrimination and the best interests of the victim is nearly ideal. However, gender equality has not been fully realized. The principle of justice is fully aligned with the legal basis, while the principle of recovery is only partially so.
A.Fernandos Jendrius Lucky Zamzami Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2025-07-01 2025-07-01 11 1 145 163 10.33369/jsn.11.1.145-163
