It employs qualitative research methods to collect data, including knowledge test and pronunciation test by using Praat and Live transcribe application. The result of this research revealed that in the knowledge test there are 36.5% students are in the excellent category and 32% students in the good category. Furthermore, 14.9% in the enough category, 16.2% students in the category of poor and 1.4% students in the category of very poor. While, in the pronunciation test there are 2 students in the good pronunciation, 2 students in the close to good pronunciation, and 6 students in the not good pronunciation. Moreover, there were 2 vowel, 2 consonant, and 3 diphthongs that the most students’ difficulty in pronouncing homophone, the phoneme are vowel /ɔ/, and /u/; consonant /t/, /d/, diphthong /ʊɚ/, /əʊ/ and /eɪ/. Ewaldo Parelazharlubis@unib.ac.idHilda Puspitahildapuspita@unib.ac.idAzhar Aziz Lubisazharlubis@unib.ac.id<p>This research aims to find out the composition and distribution of Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) in the “Bright” an English Textbook for Grade Seven junior high school. This research used a descriptive quantitative method. The data were obtained through analysis of every reading exercises that follow essay question, based on Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. The instrument used is an analysis card and checklist table, the researcher collects and lists all of the reading exercises in a bright book, then separates all the reading exercises based on chapters. HOTS contained in the table form identified by the researcher. Analysis cards become guidelines to make questions into a well-balanced portion of HOTS capacity. Keywords utilized to identify the question to which it belongs either LOTS or HOTS in table form. The result showed that the composition of HOTS presented in the reading exercises is only 12% consisting of Analyze 7%, Evaluate 3%, and Create 2%, lower than LOTS which take almost half of the book take 88% with Remember (C1) the most dominant. This type of research is qualitative descriptive or this research is dialog and scenes that show character in the main character. The data source in this research is Pinocchio (2022) movie by Chris Weitz. This movie is an adaptation of the previous movie entitled Pinocchio (1940). The method used in this research is qualitative description by using Robert Stanton's character analysis theory (1965). The data collection technique uses watching, listening, classifying, analyzing, and concluding data. The results of the analysis show that the character of the main character Pinocchio contained in the movie Pinocchio (2022) are; disobedient character (8), loving character (5), obedient character (5), curious character (4), naive character (4), cheerful character (1), worrying character (4), lying character (4), brave character (2), friendly character (3), intelligent character (2), optimistic character (2), responsible character (2), helpful character (1), and fearful character (1). The most dominant character of Pinocchio is the dissident character. Meanwhile, the characters that were least encountered by the researcher were cheerful, helpful, and fearful. The results of this study reveal that the Pinocchio (2022) movie is child-friendly and safe from harmful meanings that may be implied in the movie. Salah satunya adalah permasalahan gedung parkiran yang terjadi di Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Permasalahan ini ramai dibahas dan ditanggapi oleh para pengguna fasilitas di akun X base kampus, yaitu @UPIfess. Keramaian tersebut bermula dari sebuah unggahan karena keresahan akan ketidakteraturan gedung parkiran yang terjadi pada bulan September 2023. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan tindak tutur ekspresif yang terdapat dalam kolom komentar unggahan permasalahan gedung parkiran Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, penelitian ini didasari oleh teori pragmatik. Tindak tutur ekspresif merupakan tuturan yang digunakan untuk mengekspresikan perasaan sikap penutur. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data dari penelitian ini adalah komentar terhadap salah satu unggahan yang dikumpulkan dengan metode dokumentasi. Analisis dilakukan dengan membaca, mengidentifikasi, memilah, mengklasifikasi, mencatat, dan menarik kesimpulan yang disajikan dengan deskripsi. Hasilnya menunjukkan adanya lima kategori tindak tutur ekspresif dari 12 data, yaitu mengkritik sebanyak 3 komentar, menyindir sebanyak 3 komentar, menyalahkan sebanyak 2 komentar, mengeluh sebanyak 2 komentar, dan memaki sebanyak 2 komentar.</p>2025-10-27T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Maulida Fitriatusyifa
