Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the role of principal as an instructional leader. This study uses descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this study are the principal, the vice of the principals, teachers, staff, and the students. The data were collected by interview, observation, and documentation. The result of this study shows that to be an effective an instructional leader, the school principal is required to be more involved in the teaching learning proccess in the classroom, gives more opportunity to teachers in disscussing and sharing information about new models of teaching, develops staff, emphasizes data in decision making proccess, and actively monitors and evaluates the teaching
proccess for furher improvement.
